How It Works

Buying a business in another country is mostly about knowing what you are buying. We break it into four stages and stay with you through each one.

  1. 01

    Discover

Browse Budapest businesses with clear asking prices and available financial information.

Every listing shows the takeover price, monthly rent, monthly turnover and lease remaining. Save businesses and compare them side by side.

  2. 02

    Evaluate

Review the business, operating costs, lease terms and available financial records.

We share the lease, operating costs and financial records the seller has made available, and arrange viewings. We tell you plainly what has been verified and what has not.

  3. 03

    Acquire

Receive support with negotiations, legal coordination and transaction documentation.

We help structure the offer, negotiate with the seller and coordinate with Hungarian lawyers, the landlord and accountants. Contracts are drafted by independent lawyers.

  4. 04

    Take Over

Complete the handover and prepare for operations under the agreed terms.

We organise the handover: the inventory, the keys, the transfer of utilities and permits, and introductions to suppliers where useful.

Hungarian deal structures in plain language

Asset sale

You buy the business's assets, such as equipment, fit-out and goodwill, and usually take over the lease. The seller's company stays with the seller.

Lease-right transfer

You take over the tenant's position under the existing lease (bérleti jog átruházás), usually with the fit-out and equipment. The landlord must consent.

Company-share acquisition

You buy the company that owns the business (üzletrész-adásvétel), including its contracts, licences and liabilities. Due diligence on the company is essential.

Common questions

Can a foreigner buy a business in Hungary?

Yes. EU and non-EU citizens can own a Hungarian business or company. Residence and work permits are a separate question, and we can introduce you to immigration advisers.

Is turnover the same as profit?

No. Turnover is revenue before rent, staff, stock and other costs. BizPest never calculates returns from turnover as if it were profit.

Who holds the deposit?

Deposits are held by the buyer's or seller's lawyer in escrow (ügyvédi letét), never by BizPest.
